Counterpart Publishes Second CIVICUS Civil Society Index Case Study

Counterpart publishes second CIVICUS Civil Society Index Case Study

Case study on corporate social responsibility (CSR) finds need for more long-term cooperation between the private sector and civil society organizations

Today Counterpart released its second of five comprehensive case studies conducted as part of the CIVICUS Civil Society Index, with generous support from USAID. This case study titled CSR –A New Framework for Action finds that for-profit – civil society relations are not effectively used in the implementation of CSR initiatives in Armenia. Rarely do civil society organizations proactively seek partnerships with business organizations. Moreover, the private sector remains skeptical about the capacities and trustworthiness of many CSOs. The study then suggests that private companies need to engage in more long-term and integrated initiatives with their counterparts in the not-for-profit sector. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for publication of the remaining three case studies.
